Where Will Roman Go

The issues surrounding Riquelme's club future are quite complicated. With many clubs showing interests in Roman, and 2 financially incapable of keeping him tied directly to him, it's really not surprising to see rumors about Riquelme flying all over the place.

Here's an excellent post by VIPNERD on bigsoccer's Argentina board. It should help one to understand the matter better, and avoid believing in B.S theories.

There are 2 parts in this equation. The club and the player.

It is up to Roman to choose. He can refuse each and every offer he gets to move. I think he will do so, arguing that his family needs to stay in one place and what better place than Bs As. He also WANTS to play the Club World Cup.

Now, the club has 2 choices. Just like in January. They can make him sit in the stands for the semester/year/2 years of his contract ... for which the club CAN NOT afford to pay him the 9 million that his contract stipulates. This according to reporters in Villarreal.

Or they can loan him again where Roman accepts, making things easy for the club who will handle his wages. In this case Boca ... just like in January.

I see Roman staying at Boca. Boca is saying it is impossible to pay his wages again, because they don't want to compromise having to pay a loan. At the same time, Boca has been very responsible with its finances under Macri. That is why Boca will seek private parties to pay for Roman. As per the mp3 I u/led yesterday, it could be 20 "rich" Boca fans that each can put US$50,000 which would pay for half the contract for this semester. The other half could come from Boca.

But also, the happiest that Boca qualified to the CWC are the Toyota peeps. One thing is Boca with Roman, and a different story without him. This in terms of marketing. Crespi insinuated that Boca could seek some sort of financial bonus to have him play the CWC.

So ... this is something that will delay until the first week of August, when the transfer window is approaching the closing mark.

But no player with contract can be moved around without his conscent. In simpler terms, the player decides where he moves. Roman would be refusing offers from top clubs which could mean a lot more $$ for him per year. But he is set with what he gets now and what he has banked already. He is searching for glory. At the club he loves.

Atletico had given up on Roman according to this report.. And again, I happily present you yet another Not Transfering News.

I hope this logic about Roman staying in Boca works out. Great for him, great for Boca, great for Argentina football. Bad for River.:)

It would be preferable if you want to cut and paste whole posts here that you include a link to the discussion. Does VIPNerd know you copied his post here?

If you want to join BigSoccer's Network of links, you need to have some kind of link here as well.

Thanks - BigSoccer Admin
