Enganche is a Dangerous Word

Original article by the same title.
Explaination of Enganche.

When asked about his opinion on Enganche, Diego Simeone answered:
"Ufff, the word Enganche is dangerous. But, I like enganche, although with some variations. More like the playing style of Zidane, call it a prototype of enganche? That evolved into the enganche roles today of Kaká, Totti, Pirlo, Ronaldinho and Robinho. I believe enganche today must come from another sector, there must be wider variety of options. Like Wilchez, my (Estudiante) enganche that returned from Tiger."

He went on to say:
"(long lobs) are very important, although not pleasing to watch. Today, it's not possible to play without a long passer."

As expressed in this article, I believe Basile's experiement of a traditional enganche (Riquelme) with a secondary playmaker (Veron) was a failure. We need to look for other strategies so the playmaker role is shared by players who are natural to their positions and are able to initiate attacks from those places, whether winger or holding midfielder. The 4-3-1-2 system is obsolete and we CANNOT continue relying on this antique strategy.

Diego Simeone also expressed his feeling about the lack of discipline.
"I believe nothing is more important than discipline. Discipline is the way to live on the field, and is not negotiable because it powers individualities. If I haven't made myself clear, the synthesis is what Brazil against Argentina in the recent final of Copa America. Their trainer harnessed individualities wby imposing discipline, which ended up more powerful than the higher quality of Argentine players."
