If Simeone, what do u think, Rio? Better? Same?

The "official" story is that Grondona fired Tocali's assistant coach, and Tocali resigned in protest and to show loyalty to his technicians.

The fact is, we knew Grondona doesn't like Tocali, because Grondona hated Pekerman, and Tocali remained close with Pekerman.

The Basile thing just came out last night, I don't want to go too far without hearing official announcements.
We have qualifiers next month, this would a big change if it's true, but IMO for the better good. None of us wanted Basile to get cirrhosis, but perhaps that's the only way for it to happen...

Simeone looked technically sound, but is he really experienced enough to lead the NT? Does he has the charisma? Will the superstars listen to him?
Part of me is willing to experiment, but we're probably better off with our NT in the hands of a more experienced person.

Man I hope Basile is alright, he's never been known for living a healthy lifestyle. And apart from his shoddy tactics at times, I did allways like his positive attitude about football. A rare breed these days.

I don't know much about Simeone and I wonder if this would fuck up Roman's chances of playing for the NT in november?

Man I hope he finds a club soon...

Simeone is a brilliant tactician and he had a very successful career as player. However, due to his background, he didn't have to work very hard to get to where he is now, so his mental capacity as well as the ability to overcome hardship is unknown, and these are important criteria in NT staff selection.

In term of style, I think Simeone is well balanced between tradition and adaptation. He's aggressive and willing to gamble, yet careful and stays in tune with reality.

That's not to say there isn't better and more reliable coach than Simeone, but given him the helm wouldn't of been a bad idea IMHO.

Do you like Turkish national team? I mean, do you like their style? If you do, you probably will like Simeone.

OK, Rio. Nobody wants bad happen to Basile. Personally, I like his style but going further to the next level, I just don't know. But I'm willing for an experiment. But IF, Basile steps down, I'm clueless about who is the "right" manager now & until WC2010. Maybe, you can share your opinion... and speculate :)

Cheers

No go man. Ole also helped grondona denying the rumor.

BTW, it's been exactly 10 years since Diego played his last professional match. 10.25.97.

Lets just bring back Pekerman.Taking out Riquelme and leaving Messi on the bench was a mistake, yes but they were just that close from getting to the semi finals. I just got a flash back on Kolse goal(ahrrrr). But as long as that fat piece of crap mobster Grondona is in the helm of the AFA forget about it. Or bring back Bilardo, yes the man did take ARG to 2 wc finals. But lets crawl before we walk, and walk before we run, and wait and see what happens with Basile. You can not win just on talent, the best players will win NOT win you games, the best team will. look@ BRA teamin 06, but what happen. And as for Simeone as the coach?? Is ARG trying to pull of a Dunga move? I just want to see someone who can led the team, and I am sure El Cholo will get the respect of his players. I say play brutual in the back, hold the ball in the middle, and play with style and flair in the front. I just do not want to see Heinze with another net meg!
